Experience, culture, and authenticity have become our guiding principles in recreating the apartment building. While staying connected to history, it was important to make Kamienica 25 a space for values and an answer to the needs of contemporary everyday life.
This required an increased investment of time, significant commitment, consultations with a heritage conservator, and the restoration of most elements to make Kamienica 25 a valuable asset for future owners.
We embarked on this journey by delving into history. With profound respect for the craftsmanship of the builders, we are committed to preserving their artistry. Recognizing the structural integrity, the quality of materials, the spaciousness of the rooms, the meticulous execution of details, and the beauty of the ornate facades, we set out to restore the original appearance of the 1899 building. Our inspiration is drawn from the timeless design of Georg Rzechulka.
Investment Details
Revitalization
The revitalized facade harmoniously combines geometrized decorative elements with a monochromatic color scheme of the elevation that references its original appearance – the color of off-white, which was revealed through stratigraphic research. All preserved details of the plaster decoration on the facade date back to the building's original construction period.
The facade features a bay window and numerous architectural details in the form of cornices, pilasters, and panels. Additionally, the windows are framed with decorated moldings.
The color scheme distinguishes building from surrounding structures, acting as a harmonizing link between the contemporary building on the left and the historic one on its right.
The choice of color scheme was confirmed by a Feng Shui expert, who indicated that the colors of architectural details, such as the green entrance doors or graphite window frames, should connect with the earth tones. These shades invigorate and activate energy, being associated with the creative cycle and growth.
While renovating the interior of the stairwell, we preserved the historic stairs with their distinctive openwork risers and wooden balusters.
We recreated the original plaster decorations complementing the wooden, historicizing storefronts. In the courtyard, we designated space for a garden, creating an integral green enclave - a place for intimate gatherings.
